2016 short box screw clunking
I've had it back to the dealership twice and took the service tech out for a drive after they did nothing the first time. I just picked the truck up for the second time. They replaced the "lead frame" and said I was good to go. It's not good to go. Has anyone had a light clunking or slight thud noise ONLY when coming to an ALMOST complete stop then taking off again? If I come to a complete stop it's fine. Driving slow, fast, passing cars etc. are all fine. I live in a sub division and every damn stop sign I can FEEL a slight thud on take off after almost coming to a complete stop. Putting the truck from drive to reverse or vise versa, there are no unusual noises in the drivetrain. I don't know what to do besides take it to another dealership. The truck is coming up on the end of its warranty soon and I just bought it a few weeks ago.
Same here. I notice it in town driving between stop signs. When I slow down and then touch the gas to get going it clunks. When i'm rolling to a stop, it clunks. The dealership called a representative from Ford and they had my truck for a day and said they couldnt find anything wrong with it. They did extend my drivetrain warranty an extra 2 years. My opinion, it's the rear axle gears have too much slack. I have the heavy duty tow package with rear diff lock, I'm guessing these gears just have more slack and they slap around.

That doesn't sound convincing. I am going to book it in to another local dealer to see what they say. I'll let you know if it gets resolved.

I have a 17 with that problem. Thought I was going nuts, thanks for keeping me from that Dr's office! Let me know what you find out and I will invest more time into it. Right now I am so busy that I am just driving it until something needs attention - have service package and warranty to keep the dealer honest.

Sounds like the leaf springs to me. Check this thread out.

The clunk you're hearing is the hard shift from 3rd to 1st. When coasting, the truck stays in 3rd until you're very close to a complete stop. Then, you give it gas, the truck realizes you want to get going, and drops to 1st to provide the torque. That 3rd to 1st is just a rough shift for this transmission it seems.
You can confirm this two ways:
One, watch the gear display when you do it.
Two, put the truck in "2" or even Sport mode and try it. If you don't experience the clunk, then that's what it is.
I had my 2016 into the dealer when I first started to notice it, they told me the leaf spring story but I didn't buy it. Then I noticed the gear change and that made sense. There's a thread on here somewhere, I'll put the link in this post when I find it.
EDIT: Found the thread, but there isn't really any more information about the issue: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/dread...nshift-449314/

I had the same clunk feel in my 2015 when I bought it. After researching alot on here, it seemed common for people to not have enough grease in the slip yoke, and that cured the problem. I took mine to the dealer I bought it from, and told them that maybe it was the cause. Tech took it out & confirmed the "clunk". Greased the slip yoke, but apparently only lessened it a bit. He found a tsb about the transmission shifting parameters, and applied the "fix". I no longer have the clunk, but do experience the odd hard downshift from 3rd-to-1st when the truck is still a bit cold.
Mine never seems to use 2nd gear. I've watched the gears light up when taking off from stop at slow speeds, medium speed, and even romping on it a bit and it always skips 2nd. I've never seen that little "2" light up. I've mentioned the TSB to my dealer and hopefully they will get it installed next week when I go in to get my horn replaced.
