Default 2016 ordering?

I almost pulled the trigger the other day and traded my 2011 f350 power stroke for a 2015 f150 501a lariat. BUT then we talked about it over the weekend and decided to wait a few months until we get rid of a couple other payments. Plus I'd rather have the 502a anyways. My question is, does anyone know when ordering will begin for the 2016's? I've heard that the new version of sync will be available in them, do yall think that is enough of a reason to wait for a 2016?

I'd think a big factor is how long you plan on keeping it. You're already getting rid of a 2011 so I'm guessing not that long

I'd not sweat it as much for short term... but if you want to keep it for a long time, get more picky!!

If your only concern is the sync system I personally wouldn't wait. Look back to when Myford touch first came out, it was very buggy and people were having all sorts of issues. Im not saying Myford touch is perfect now but its a heck of a lot more stable then when it first came out. I would have to assume that the new Sync system will have its growing pains as well and may take a model year or two to get stable. My opinion would be get a 15 when the 16's start showing up and save some cash, in 4 years if you stick to your current vehicle turn over the Sync3 should be much more stable.

2016 f150s currently are scheduled to begin being built in late oct to nov. This is not set in stone and is the earliest it would happen. Ordering usually begins a month or two before builds begin.

No one knows for sure, but it's most likely around November when ordering for the 2016's begin. If I could have waited, I would have just for Sync 3. Sync 3 looks miles ahead of the current generation of Sync. Having said that, the current gen of sync is really not that bad. I went through the whole experience of it being terrible and years of updates to fix it. I still have occasional issues, but for the most part, I'm happy with Sync now. When Sync 3 does come out, I plan on buying the APIM for Sync 3 and installing it in my 2015.

*Can* anyone comment on the modularity of the Sync with MyFordTouch system?

If/when the new system comes out, can we replace the brains with the updated system, keeping the screen, speakers, and steering wheel buttons?

What will it do better/differently?

No. Ford has said upgrading will be impossible due to new hardware.

Upgrading the software yes, but if you install a new Sync 3 APIM, that would work.

Ford says you can't upgrade, but if you buy the new APIM, it should work. It won't be a cheap upgrade though. Ford has been using current vehicles including the 2015 F-150 to show Sync 3 at shows.

Have you seen Sync 3? It looks so much better. Check out this video:
