Default 2016 F150 Reverse camera Blue screen

Good Evening all,

I have spent 3 days searching for a solution to my blue screen when using the reverse camera. I have swapped fuses and no change, disconnected the plug at the camera and swapped mine out with my wife’s 15 and it will not work. However, my camera worked in her truck no problem. Disconnected all the plugs out back and added dielectric grease and confirmed pins were all intact. No change. Ran a Forscan test on the APIM with no error codes. Took the dash apart and disconnected the Camera module and the display showed camera not available. Plugged everything back in and still blue screen. I do have 12volts at the camera plug. I feel like the feedback from the camera is due to a wire but I don’t have any electrical schematics to follow. Does anyone have any tips or helpful diagrams for the wiring pin outs?

thanks everyone!

This guy had the same blue screen on backup camera. Turned out to be a (relatively simple) power delivery issue near the tailgate:

thank you for posting. I did check these at the camera and I was getting proper 12volts. What I don’t know is, if those wires are intact to the APIM. Was hoping for find a wiring diagram. Think I found a pin out of the APIM connector at the back of the display. Might be able to continuity check these camera feed wires?

Just curious, do you live in the desert or a sawmill?

awaiting a tri axle load of gravel to eliminate the 1/4 mile long dirt driveway.. I normally keep my truck clean but I was mad at it for this. On a positive note... I put 12volts to the wire and removed the 7.5 fuse. The damn thing works! Guess I got me some wire tracing to do! Thanks for the input everyone! She’s not that dirty. Just needs a rub a dub dub.. p.s yes I need a ladder to reach down along the firewall checking connections. LOL

Gatorfann,

I ended up using my reverse lights as a signal wire to turn on the camera. My constant main feed wire that runs from fuse box to camera was only giving 8volts. I believe I have a break in the wire or it’s rubbing ground somewhere in there. After connecting 12vs to camera it works fine. A bit delayed to turn on but it works.

Thumbs down Blue Screen

My screen went Blue. I replaced the camera with no change. Checking the wiring pulled down the spare to check connections. Noticed a lot of fine dust in one of the jackets. Pulled out the wires and looks like the foil wrap and wire insulation has disintegrated. That is the ground and looks like a previous repair was done.
