I believe the 5.0 is lighter than the 3.5 eco, the 2.7 is barely lighter than the 5.0 (smaller, but part of the block is cast iron). Or it would appear that way off these curb weights from Ford's site. Not that the differences in engine weight are enough to amount to a lot. And I could be mistaken, I never saw an actual engine weight printed, although I'm sure one exists somewhere..

Well, that wasn't nearly as jumbled up before I hit "post". anywho, curb weight for 5.0 is 30ish lbs heavier than curb weight for 2.7. 3.5 eco curb weight is heavier than both.

Much easier to read at the bottom of this page:

Do you know build date of the 15? From what I hear, a lot of early build 15's had problems. I got an October build so I haven't experienced any thankfully, but you may want to take that into consideration

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you don't experience any of the other issues that are common with earlier builds

I really like the idea of bells and whistles but I can get the 15 and put clazzio/katskinz leather in it for under $1000.

What packages should I make sure the xlt have and will the 2.7 be under powered if I level it and put 33s on it?

I drive my truck only 10k per yr or so.....and tow a 4500# boat every now and then.

Like both trucks just trying to decide and need vs want type deal......thoughts?
I prefer the 2010-2014's. I had 3 of them and like the ride better than the 2015.
The 2015 has some features unavailable in the previous models, but if I could choose again I would take any of those 3 over this one.
It's not a bad truck by any means, just stating my preference.

2015 all day. The previous gen feels really outdated in comparison and the 2.7 Eco is a great little motor, tons of torque. I will say though, I've had quite a few issues with my 2015, most are common and have TSB's to fix them though.

I agree. I don't see the two as comparable after having driven both and riding in my friends 2012. So far zero issues with my 2015 2.7.
