Question 2015 vs 2016 vs 2017

Looking to purchase my first (new to me) F-150. Wondering what differences the 2015 vs 2016 vs 2017 models have from each other, if any.

Mechanical changes?
Exterior changes?
Interior changes?
Problems?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! I want to make as educated a purchase as possible!

Thanks in advance!!

Mainly the 2017's have SYNC3 instead of the older SYNC2 (Microsoft). Honestly, there's advantages to both, so I wouldn't choose the truck based on that system. Plus, you can retrofit a SYNC3 head unit into a 15 or 16 if you really wanted to.

Also, the 2017 3.5 EcoBoost is the 2nd Generation EcoBoost with 10-speed automatic. The rest of the line-up doesn't get these features until the 2018 model year.... so if you're looking for an EcoBoost, I personally wouldn't buy anything other than a '17 or '18. So many improvements there. But the 5.0L is the same from 15-17. The 18 5.0L is a 3rd generation engine and also preferred, but again, that's an '18.

Sync 3 was introduced in the F150 in 2016. Pro Trailer Backup Assit also became available in 2016

Either a 16 or a 17, skip the 15 if you want Carplay/andriod auto, skip the 16 if you want the new EB.

2017+ lariats and platinums have a nicer steering wheel over the 15 & 16.

The steering wheel cover in my 16 does NOT feel like leather as claimed on the window sticker, so that is something else to consider.

Good info guys! I'm wanting to go with the 2.7 EB. Is the 2.7 the same across those years or does that changes as well in 2017?

Thanks for the info! Sounds like there weren’t any huge changes in the 2015-2017 for the 2.7 EB models
