Default 2015 Tailgate Step

So originally when I bought my 2015 F150 I decided to forego the tailgate step (only sissies use that thing right? ).

Since then however I have decided that I am apparently a sissy because I find myself wishing I had included it.

It looks as if my tailgate already has the slots for it just covered with plugs). I called a local dealership and they said they don't know of any parts that can be sold separately and they think that I have to replace the tailgate to get it ($1600). While I would like it, I don't want it THAT much.

Anyone on here with some Ford connections happen to know if it can be had without replacing the whole tailgate?

There are options. I got an AMP Research BedStep, and love it. Easy to deploy. Very sturdy (I'm 280lb), and looks decent enough.

AMP Research BedStep

I do admit I've driven away with it deployed (twice). It's still plenty high it won't ground out.

Shop around. I got mine for $199 w/ free shipping @ ElectricStep

BedStep says 300lb weight rating, btw, and I have no doubt it's stout enough to exceed that by a large margin.

Yeah, you are a sissy but at least you don't have the gay looking built in step in the bumper like on chevys. C'mon...it's a "step bumper" raise your foot 4 more inches. The AMP research one looks pretty good and utilitarian though, especially on a tough looking 4x4.

Hard to do the 'step bumper' on the F-150 when the tailgate is down.

Don't dis the GM bumper corner steps. I had a 2002 Avalanche that came standard with those VERY HANDY step bumpers. Brilliant in their simplicity, actually. The Avalanche had built-in hand grip/tie-down cleats right where you'd want them, too. Getting in & out of the bed was easy, even for my 50+ yo clutz of a wife.

It also came standard with a hard tonneau, rubber bed mat, and decent floor mats. All things I had to pay extra for (3rd party!) on my 2015 Lariat 502a

You can not add the step to a non-step tailgate. Internally they are totally different.
