Default 2015 with Sync 3 - Map Updates Elusive!

I have made numerous attempts to update the maps on the Sync 3 system installed in my 2015 F150. I've been bounced around by Ford and the company that developed the maps, until I'm fit to be tied. They tell me that my VIN and the ESN number do not match their system, so I cannot update the maps. They also will not take an order over the phone, it has to be through their Web site. Because the VIN and the ESN number are not in sync (no pun intended), or because the VIN is for a 2015, their system kicks me out before I even have an opportunity to do much of anything.

This morning, after another ping pong match, I called the dealership and spoke with the service manager. He is going to look into the matter, and see what he may be able to do to move this issue along for me.

Have any of you that installed Sync 3 with NAV into your Sync 2 equipped trucks, had this issue? If so, have you found a work-around? I don't mind paying for the maps, and I know there are some who would not spend the money and think I'm crazy for doing so myself, but it's my money and I'm not leaving it for my kids.

so you were sync 2 and upgraded to sync 3? i think the only way you can do it is to use the "donar" vin and your esn number.

or you can join the sync 3.0 to 3.4 and get the newest maps that way for free but yo won't have dealer support for your APIM

Purchased a new APIM, so there was no donor truck. Have yet to hear back from the dealership.

The APIM needs to be linked to a valid SYNC3 Navigation equipped vehicle in order to get map updates.

What happens when a dealer replaces an APIM under warranty? I would assume they need to assign the new APIM (ESN?) to the VIN somehow.
