my 15 platinum 5.0 is having issues at start up, both with and without the remote start.

randomly, it might start first time i hit the button, other times it might just click like it’s a starter or sometimes have a really weak crank. it has never not started, but sometimes taking 3-4 try’s. my gauge cluster will go crazy and radio will come on or go off randomly when it has a start up problem, along with my computer being reset like i disconnected the battery.

i checked the basics, ground, battery, checked for leaks and can’t find anything. has anyone had this same issue? or know what it could be? thanks

 

Weak battery maybe. have you replaced your battery or had it checked?

 

Load test your battery and replace if necessary. If the battery tests good, then check your battery terminals to make sure they are clean and tight. Then check the positive cable running down to the starter making sure all the connections are clean and tight. Then check your other grounds the same way. The main ground is in the front passenger corner, just in front of the washer reservoir.

If you have the original factory battery then that is likely the problem.

 

Weak battery. Change it before it completely goes out and leaves you stranded.

 

i left out that i replaced the battery in august. sometimes it will just click when i start it and will do it for 3 or 4 attempts, but then start no problem.i have cleaned the battery terminals, as well as the main ground. i am going to dive deeper into the engine bay and check more wiring tomorrow.

is it possible it’s the key fob? today it started fine with the push button, turned it off and while sitting in the truck it wouldn’t start with remote start.

 

Sounds like starter needs replacing.

Any chance it does this about 2 min 10 secs in

 

My 2015 5.0 Lariat has been having the same issue in the last 48 hours. New battery in December and new starter in January. Just curious. Thanks!
