2015 in the Snow?

2015 in the Snow?
How do you think the new f150 will be in the snow? I am a little concerned about the reduced weight and snow. My 2011 f150 is awesome in the snow on the highway at high speeds. I can pass people in the hammer lane when it isnt plowed at 60 mph and not even worry. I always assumed that it was partially due to heavy weight of truck.

I think that is your momentum. If you had to stop, you might not think the same. The weight of the vehicle helps, but is the tires that can make even a lightweight vehicle perform better than those twice its size.

cant be just momentum, when I tried same thing in lighter toyota light p/u I would have been in the ditch. It started to drift in snow at higher speeds. Cant be tires either, the tires that ford puts on these trucks are garbage. Wish they had an option to get good all terrain tire from dealer when you buy it.

In our trucks defense even with snow and ice my screw cab stops REALLY quickly as long as ABS doesn't kick in. My brother was riding with me and even said he couldn't believe how good it stopped on the icy roads.

Weight does make a huge difference. Look a some of the bigger trucks when it's icey. They have no issues starting and stopping when they have weight stacked on their drive axles. Obviously it's a lot smaller of a scale but the same principles apply.

You have an extra 700lbs of payload. When it's winter put sandbags over the axles. When you don't need them, dump the sand in a litter box. Weight problem solved.

I think I've had poops that are heavier than my Ford Focus hatchback and it's fantastic in the snow. I wouldn't worry about the truck, lol.

I don't know, 400lbs in the bed can make a big difference (my spray in liner, BakFlip top, ski gear, and 300lbs of rubber Horse Stall matts). Makes a noticeable difference here in Colorado. I can't imagine 1100 lbs less...
That isn't to say that without good tires it's great either- those make a much larger difference.
