Default 2015 Radar Mount

Hello,

I just picked up my 15 lariat and was curious is anyone had hardwired a radar detector yet. I am using a rear view mirror mount for my valentine 1 but I am not sure how to run power. In my 13, I ran a relay from the battery the used a switch fuse under the hood. In the 15, it looks like it could be a bit more difficult to run the power cord up the driver side pillar. Has anyone used a mirrortap? I have a lariat with the 502a package if that helps.

Thanks

I looked at doing a mirror tap, but the wires were tiny, and I didn't know which wire was what.

I just ran my lead down the passenger side pillar, to the fuse box in the passenger side kick panel, found a fuse that was keyed, and used a fuse tap. It really was easy and didn't take more than 20 minutes to do.

Which rearview mirror mount are you using? I've been balking at the $130 price tag of the Blendmount for my Lariat.

i bought my 2013 used from a dealer and the previous owner left his blendmount installed as well as the hardwire harness. i had to replace for one for my cobra radar detector, but it was nothing compared to what i saved not having to buy a blendmount. lol.

with that being said the one i removed is up for whomever wants it? rkfvd3 has first crack at it, if he passes its fair game. it has a connector that looks like a phone jack and an inline fuse. $5 to cover shipping and its yours. ill post a pic in a few.

Did you figure out which wire? I just asked the same question before finding your thread.

recently installed using the clip visor and tap-a-wire in the fuse box. i used the fuse box number 1 so it works when you turn on accessories (it doesnt turn off when the start/stop enables). very easy to install, just tuck in the wire into headliner. very clean and unobstructive...inconspicuous
