Default 2015 paint issue

I parked my truck today with the sun at my back and noticed some dull spots on the drivers side of the bed. I've had the truck for a few weeks and never noticed them before and am quite surprised because I'm very picky and examine the truck as I pass by after each use.

I remember reading on this site where another owner had a similar spot on their hood. What would cause this? It looks like a perfect circle on the paint. It doesn't rub off but also doesn't feel different than the surrounding shiny paint.

thoughts?

Looks like somebody performed some paint correction and didn't polish it back out.

Weird. Looks exactly like someone threw a basketball or football at it.

Had that happen before, took a good buffing to get it out.

You say it feels like the rest of the truck, so I have to say it may have been paint correction like stated above.

This^ would be my guess. I would try to be sure that it's not under the clear though. I have seen that.

Painted this altima for that.

I had a similar spot that i noticed on inspection when my truck was brought in to the dealer. Their paint shop buffed it out. Said something must have touched the clear while still tacky at the factory.

i agree with above. That looks like a football or basketball hit it a few times.

Hi,
That was me that you are thinking of that posted a clearcoat problem on the hood.

but my problem doesn't look anything like what you see. Mine was small and irregular and looked like an air bubble under the clear coat even though clear coat was adhering completely to the color coat.

From what I gather, this is caused by moisture before the clear coat is applied and is corrected with gingerly using a head gun. I never had this work done because the dealer swapped it out with another truck that came in the same day from the same plant.

What's a "head gun?"
