http://www.autogeek.net/detailingtips.html that site is awesome!! They have expert advice, products, and just about everything you could ever need.
Here is a page on clay barring.........http://www.autogeek.net/detailing-clay-bar.html
I use Mequiars clay. It will be filthy when you do it. You just keep working it like silly putty and the dirt will disappear. Make sure you use a pre-spray while using the clay. You also want to hand wash and hand dry every drop with a plush microfiber towel before you start
When your done should be able to throw a microfiber towel on the hood, and it should slide off. If it sticks, clay it again.

The clay bar is great advice and there is no shortage good detailing information at the Autogeek site, plus they have the best selection of products of anyone in the business. That said, before using the clay bar, I recommend using a product called Iron-X on the paint. It's a product that you spray on the paint or wheels that will break down iron contaminants, turning them dark red in the process. Then you simply rinse it off. This will remove 90% of the iron specs from the rail yard before you hit it with the clay.
Here's a picture from AutoGeek showing Iron-X in action. It is clear and only changes color when iron is present, and obviously there is plenty here. The only down side of the stuff is that it smells like cherry scented death.

One thing that I didn't mention about the Iron-X is that after you have done the initial detail of the paint with it, you will have plenty left to use on the wheels each time you wash the truck. I've been detailing cars for 35 years and it has become a staple of my product arsenal.

I agree that white is boring but living in the Mexican desert with all the dust I could not go with a dark color so settled on Ingo Silver. Never heard of this clay bar stuff so I will have to look into it.

Saw this on a local dealers website...

7.5% interest . At my local prevailing CU rate, I could shave $143/month off that quote.

can you get the 8" productivity screen on an XLT, or is that only Lariat and up? I think its only for lariat and up per the online configurator =/
that would be fine if I could get the 20" 'chrome-like pvd wheels' on a Lariat like you can on XLT but it only lets you have 18" wheels on lariat
seems to be forcing me to move up to King Ranch to get both
