Can anyone confirm if Sync myTouch on the 2015 F150 supports applink where you can control some apps like Pandora, spotify, etc, through voice commands?

 

I know I can control spotify through the steering wheel controls, unlike my bmw.

MyFord Touch does not have AppLink, but you can still use most music apps on your phone via Bluetooth audio or USB connections. Please note, controlling the apps from SYNC will be limited, and usually only the rewind and fast forward (or previous and next song) will work. Here's a list of voice commands:

A bit off topic but...


I got an a2dp adapter for the ipod interface (6FL) that allows me to control spotify and other music players through my bmw's steering wheel. Metadata shows up too! Works really well.

 

Rebecca, can you please conform that the 2015 f-150 with MyFord Touch will not be able to be upgraded to SYNC 3?

 

That is correct, ahopkins81. SYNC 3 is all-new hardware and software so it will not be offered as an upgrade for the current SYNC systems.

Will it be possible to swap out the current MFT system with a new SYNC 3 system, or will they not be interchangeable? i.e. will you be able to plug in the new system into the existing hardware cables and have it run heated seats, climate, etc.

 

No, it will not be interchangeable, Filipi. I don't know all of the details since I'm not a trained technician; however, the hardware and software for SYNC 3 is different than MFT's. We won't be offering an aftermarket kit for SYNC 3.
