OK but I think you missed my point here - I'm not rooting for Ram (or Chevy, or etc, etc) but if you are making and selling a defective product fix the ones you sold by recalling them AND stop selling them until you redesign it so it works.

Your point was NOT lost on me and I couldn't agree more..... but fact is that Ford HAS done various TSBs and Recalls to no avail (read Post #2 for a tad of the historical failure from Ford).... I (and others) constantly call for a REAL fix and to "stop the bleeding" in the new trucks they continue to produce/sell to unsuspecting buyers..... So far it has fallen on deaf engineering and management ears, but hope springs eternal!!!!

BTW... we really have no idea of what percentage of vehicles actually fail (unlike the "Cooling Seat" fiasco where 100% failed because of faulty original design change in 2015s).... we have only the posts and actions from this (and other Forum inputs.... that I have connected to ours!!!) to guesstimate a percentage.... issue is truly random and situational, or so it seems....AZPLAT

The company found that certain adjustments may cause the brake pedals to detach. OMG......now THAT could just be a safety issue..... !? Guess they spent more time testing their "new" tailgate than other things!?....AZPLAT

We are lucky... I would rather have the dook locks freezing than the brake pedal falling off.

Took mine in this morning. In speaking with them, on the '18s at least is does seem to be a problem with the cable collar freezing due to condensation such that while it opens, it wont retract. They did pop the panels for the fix, beyond that I dont know what was done. They had booked me a rental car, which I pick up but in the end didn't need. While I was picking the rental up, the agent asked me what my car was in for. I said doors wont close, he said, F150 eh? I nodded, but then asked, do you get a lot of repeat customers? He said no, not for this problem. Not scientific, but at least it was an observation from an outside party. So I have my fingers crossed. Nice icy snow storm arriving tomorrow, so we'll see. BTW the rental was a '19 Silverado. Doors or no, I'd still have the Ford.

I get amused here. We have a solutions that works almost all of the time. People still want to go the the dealer and bash their heads against the wall over and over and still not fixed then complain that there is nothing that will fix the problem. The home, ghetto, redneck fix they won't even try it but immediately start throwing out lemon law, lawyer, going to tell the dealer to do this or that. Amusing. Lead a horse to water....

MAYBE if Ford ever got around to nailing the ROOT CAUSE of this issue (and it was spring tension) they might have someone on their payroll that is so inclined.....smile....AZPLAT

spring gets frost buildup, cycle your locks may help it?

the problem with that is access to the spring. The way the latch is assembled it doesn't appear to be serviceable as it is held together by pins that have a "rivet" style end. Perhaps some have access to replace those, but i would guess that most of us don't.

i am a firm believer that the root issue is just as much the lubricant Ford uses as it is condensation. a stronger spring may help, but brake cleaner to flush out the grease and using the ghetto fix seems to be working here!

Well I did the ghetto fix and it did not solve the problem. there are more things going on then just doors not latching or opening. My door latches work fine. The power locks freeze. you can only get in by the drivers door with the key and then you have to crawl around the inside of your truck to unlock the other doors. I'm glad it worked for you. Not to mention lots of people are not comfortable unbolting their door latches on their brand new truck.
