-24C here today. Drove through snow getting to the cottage last night. Truck was coated in a wet slushy mess. Temp dropped overnight. The 3 doors I applied the suggested fix for work and the 4th one that I did not is frozen. Even if this is temporary or not 100% perfect every time, it is looking better for sure.

last Monday, I washed the truck and since Wednesday we have very low temp -20C to -28C, today(Saturday) the warmest temp is -21C
The door that I did my own fix, that is a bit more complicated than the fix of Summers22(removing the trim, the latch and lube it with FluidFilm)
is still working perfectly, I wash the truck almost once a week and since October everything is working perfectly

Went out to check the mail and my doors. All 4 doors were frozen shut, had to "knock" around the edges of each door to even get them to open. Once opened each door latched closed on the first try. I am happy with the home grown fix No need for any more of Fords BS.

Well i'm calling it fixed. Its been 13 days its rained snowed been below freezing and barking at 50 deg and i washed sprayed it off at the car wash. It rained had flood warning rain just about all day yesterday. This morning truck covered with snow roads solid white salt trucks running 24 deg and dropping cold. Doors were froze shut from the ice after i got them open. They worked smooth as left out butter.

This is from the last ford fix where the sealed and clued and lubed the latch and added a gasket. Ill add day before yesterday i opened the door and water poured out the front weep hole. So rain is passing thru. But the latch is sealed.

I wish nothing but the best for all those having trouble.

I just had the frozen door latch recall done. I had never had any issues with freezing or latches at all. When they did the repair they said that water had gotten in and rivets were rusted so they had to do the max repair (whatever that means). Now when I lock or unlock, the driver door makes a loud banging sound... something is hitting something in there. Passenger sound is like it was before... just quiet lock or unlock sound.

Did they do something wrong? Not adjust something properly?

I think its clear from reports coming from members. Theres a clear difference between techs and there work. My locks are just as quiet as they every was. I think the last fix works but must be done right. And it very well might be management looking down there shirt collars. They told me on a 4 door truck it took 8 hours to do the fix. My 2 door extended cab took 4 hours. So this is not a quick easy fix.

Fairly new to this forum.

I have had issues with my '17 Limited SCrew, both latches (door will not latch shut and flops open), as well as door locks not releasing or engaging. A few issues last winter, this winter has been a hair pulling and hair graying experience. I have had them fixed once, then recall, to no avail. I have been locked out of my truck many times, once for 45 mins during a -20 day, late for important meeting with senior people where I work...totally embarrassing. I have to keep my manual key because anything colder than -15, I have to use my key and fiddle with driver's door lock at least 30 seconds to unlock driver's door. Sometimes it just won't unlock, so I have had to climb from rear seat or passenger seat into my drivers seat at least 10 times. To get it to latch at this time, I have to manually push down the lock pin, else, the door just bounces off the vehicle frame when I go to close it. Before the recall, it would take me 10 minutes of warming the truck, lock and unlock about 50 times and maybe 10 mins later, it would latch. Once, it just would not and had to drive home while holding driver's door closed with left hand. Dealer manager told me he had customer with 2 week old 2018 drive back into the dealer with his driver's door being held shut with bungie cord.

Email to Ford Canada CEO got their office involved, but frankly, not blaming the dealer, blaming the product and made that clear. It seems Ford is looking for quick fixes to address. Now it seems my dealer has at least one or two others, one a 17 and one an 18, same problem. Still does not work after recall. Dealer Ops Mngr told me that Ford tech came to try some possible fixes, which turned out not to be ground breaking and unlikely to do the trick. Supposedly, they are replacing all the actuators and other guts to try to solve this....waiting for parts.

At this point, have little confidence that this will be a permanent fix. Have to admit, last time I had a Ford product was my very first car...a used 79 Mercury Capri, 5.0L. This is my first pick up, and I treated myself to the LTD, a vehicle with MSRP of over $80K...luxury vehicle territory. It was a practical choice given we were renovating a house, and thinking of cottage. But I must admit, this experience is driving me nuts, and I have some decision regret. I hope they can resolve this and all the other issues I have. Ugh.

Here is my truck this morning 2 weeks after getting 18N03 performed at my dealership. 2 days and 3 nights at the dealership.

Granted this is on my Super Duty...wanted to share here as the problems Ford is having are all across the F series line.

Great video...I think you said it well for all of us having these issues. It is a product issue...not a dealer issue, and Ford, both USA and Canada, needs to step up.

Literally a sheet of ice over everything here. we had about 4-6 inches of snow over night, that changed to rain in the morning. This morning just before noon I moved the truck and let it run for about an hour while I snowblowed the slush. Once done I moved the truck back into it's spot and locked all 4 doors. Sometime around 2 in the afternoon the rain turned to freezing rain, then the temp dropped to the teens. I just now (5 pm) tried all 4 doors. I had to break the ice off around the doors to get in, eveything is coated in a 1/8 inch of ice. All 4 unlocked and opened and relatched and relocked. It seems the ghetto fix is still holding up. I did everything but remove the plastic plug next to the handle and turn the elbow vent upside down.
