Here is the fob I ordered. The fob come with two stickers, a Ford blue oval one and a Lincoln one. I put the Lincoln one on as my first car was a '80 Continental Mark VI, 351w with the digital dash display.

Based on how often my alarm goes off on strong windy days on my '15 Lariat I was thinking it may already have the shock sensor but in any event WARR4NT did you install this in your Lariat yet?

How much of a pain is the factory alarm? I just ordered a Lariat and I'm worried about this thing going off just sitting in the driveway. I hate car alarms and I wish I could remove it, but it comes with the truck. I'd be okay with just door alarms, but this motion stuff sounds like a pain in the ***.

For those of us who already have the remote start feature as part of the 302A package... can we still install the security portion of it (or do our trucks have the security part already?)

Might be just coincidence but we've had some pretty windy days here in the past couple of weeks and my '15 Lariat was going off so much that I brought it back to the dealer thinking something was wrong which they confirmed wasn't the case.

Yes you can install the VSS separate.

If at any time you want to upgrade to long range or Remote Access these plug right into it the VSS. Nice thing with Remote Access and the VSS is if your vehicle is tampered with or damaged, you'll get a text or email, wherever you are. Also you can add as many cell phones as you want at no cost unlike fobs.

Note: You can't add Remote Access or long range remote start to the factory installed remote. You need the VSS.

I've been reading the manual a bit since I don't have the truck yet. What happens if you set it to reduced protection (perimeter only). I think that is supposed to bypass the motion/tilt sensors. I'm still trying to understand the alarm system.

Sooo I'm a bit confused. My truck came with remote start already. Are you saying I can't add on or I can? Is the VSS a separate piece that gets added on?

For txt/email I imagine you need to pay a monthly fee for the GSM right?

Yes you can add the VSS if you already have factory remote.

In a lot of cases you can also add the VSS if you don't have factory remote depending on vehicle model and year.

The Remote Access module (RMU) which gives you cell connectivity, has a yearly (not monthly) fee of $49.99.

Have a look here. There's a good FAQ and vehicle compatibility list for Remote Access.

As far as I understood, the remote start option is apart of the VSS module (please correct me if I'm wrong). If you have remote start but no shock sensor, the shock sensor might be disabled. There's a jumper plug that can disable the shock sensor (read in the install instructions for more information). Removing this jumper enables the shock sensor. There is also a rotary **** that can be turned up for more sensitivity or turned down for less.

From the factory, with or without the VSS, the horn alarms if the doors are opened without first unlocking from the keypad on the door (if equipped) or the key fob or the key lock in the door. If you have the VSS and the shock sensor is enabled and you find it too sensitive, you can turn it down (as per the instructions) or ask your dealership for a jumper to disable it if the jumper didn't come in the plastic bags in the glove box.
