2015 Dash Warp?
#421
That's a real bummer. I'm looking at 2017's right now, and have to decide if I want to risk this issue or not. I suppose there's no such thing as a perfect truck. I even closely considered a new Tacoma, which used to be the epitome of truck reliability and quality... fast forward to 2017 and you can see that's not the case on the Tacoma World forums. Not to mention, they cost near what an F-150 costs for about 3/4 the truck. The 4Runner is excellent, and I've considered a new one, but the technology is stuck in the mid-2000's. I'd probably be a happier person if I didn't worry about such things!

The new dash started warping in May '17. The rattle came in August '17. The "fix" lasted for about 6 months. In essence, they are replacing a defective part with a defective part, and their mechanics are pretty lousy.
I used sunshade and tried parking in shaded areas as much as I could - it did not make a difference. The dash plastic in XLT is so thin, it will probably warp if you don't air out the cab after you fart. It's a disgrace! You will not be able to prevent the dash from warping, unless you put the truck in a vacuum-filled museum.
I went to the same dealer the 2nd time, and they replaced the dash for the 2nd time. This time, they warped the dash while installing it! In addition, they managed to scratch it too. See the pics for yourselves! This dash has been installed two days ago!
I complained immediately, and I am yet to hear from the manager. The guy is willing to help, but it looks like Ford is doing their best to limit what a manager can offer to the customer.
This manager tells me that Ford Canada is not aware of the dash problem (???). Apparently, there has to be 50+ complains Canada-wide in order for Ford to do something about it. I told him this is total BS. I asked him to look all the XLT's in his parking lot, and if he can find one with good dash - I'll buy it. He also indicated that Ford does not really care about complaints in forums (that I believe). Ford is lying for sure - there must have been 50+ complaints in Canada since 2015. I suppose they don't count it as a complaint unless you take them to court. What a bunch of hypocrites. Disgusting! Considering that every 2nd truck around here is an F150, I am pretty sure enough people complained and Ford ignored the customers as usual.
Well, I am waiting now to hear from the dealer about the crappy work they did (it's been a couple of days, no response to my complaint yet). I will not drop this for as long as I own the truck. I mentioned to them I will push this as far as arbitration for buyback (CAMVAP). I did not spend $50k for the privilege of watching my dash warp!
I will share my experiences periodically, and will share as much info as I can. All of us are obviously victims of Ford's greed and disrespect for the customer, and we should not let this go.
I can easily say that this is not my first Ford, but is going to be my last.
BTW, I would advise everyone to avoid dash replacement. This will not fix the problem permanently, and it will open the possibility for your dash to rattle like baby's toy. If you proceed with this option, be prepared to replace it every 6 months until your warranty expires.

Looks exactly like my most recent replacement. You will be back every few months. I traded it in said f it.

Up in Virginia Beach area right now and rented a 18 Chevy Equinox I must say I like it. Pretty nice way nicer that the Ford SUV's I have rented them also. They have a terrible wind noise like my F150 does. My wifes CRV is quieter to drive than then brand new ford suv's.

2014-2017 Silverados and Sierras do the exact same thing. Just FYI. I came a 2015 Sierra. It warped worse than my 2017. And I had a loaner 2017 Silverado while my junky Sierra was getting warranty work done, and the 2017 had the same warp.

Also seeing a ton of comments where people are just fed up with Ford over this little dash issue. This is absolutely nothing compared to what issues you have with a GM truck dash. I has so much rattling, I had to get under the dash myself and put almost 30 3M foam pads in different areas. The 4wd button makes this high pitched buzzing sound when engaged. The dash warped worse than the ones I'm seeing here. Just saying, the grass is definitely not greener on the other side if you are considering being done with Ford over something so petty.

Yes it's annoying but if that's the biggest issue I have with my truck I'll take it.............
No truck brand is perfect and that certainly includes Ford. Bottom line I've owned Fords, Chevy and Toyota over the years and Ford usually stood the test of time better then either of those truck brands.
