Default 2015 Bed Bolt Nuts

Just bought a 2015 F150. It came with one bed bolt missing, so I ordered one. When I dropped it into the hole to bolt it in, it dropped all the way in. I guess I’m missing the nut.

I’m having a real hard time finding how to fix this. Not finding any good pictures to help me visualize, or videos on how to add it back. Parts diagrams don’t show specifically how it goes together.

Do I need to remove the bed to add the new nut? Any other info you can share with me? Photos?

Thank you!!

So from what I can tell the nuts are at the top of the frame, and inaccessible unless the bed is off, correct? Has anyone else welded in a new nut?

Not sure, but I believe this is the nut that goes on these bolts: W719379

If I were to lift the bed just enough to insert this nut from the top of the frame, does it just slip into place?

Thank you!

Yes, that's what you need, and it slips into the hole on top of frame rail. You're going to have to remove the other 5 bolts, and they call for one use, so do what you want with that info. Torque is 58ft/lbs on the bolts.
You may have to remove the gas filler tube to allow the lift. Looks like you should be good to go as far as wiring, but still, be observant.

Ford considers all fasteners as single use.

So I finally got all the parts for this, plus the TP50 bit to remove and reinstall all 6 bolts/nuts. I got the removed and lifted the bed with some 2x4’s, and come to find out you don’t need to lift the bed at all... at least for the front 4. I’m not sure on the back 2.

So you know, the front 2 nuts are welded to the frame. The middle 2 use a removable nut with a retaining plate/clip. This clip, if you notice, doesn’t have any threads. The bolt cuts them in when you install it. These nuts can be slipped in from the interior side of the frame, and they have these retainer clips to help keep it in place:

So I just wanted to share my findings to help others in case you want to try updating/fixing your bed bolts.

Now I just need to get these new bolts coated. Thanks everyone!
