Default 2015 with A6 Navigation Chip

When I bought my '15 F-150 XLT in February I realized it came with the A6 navigation chip. I know the A7 is out and asked my dealer. When I had picked up the truck it actually had no Navigation chip, a service person had to run a chip out to my sales person before I drove it off the lot. I believe they just grabbed whatever they had laying around.

I know the A7 is out and asked my sales person, she said she'd look into it. Got back to me today saying that since my truck is a 2015 the A6 is the correct SD card and that the 2016 comes with the A7.

How truthful is that? Why would they give me a truck with an A6 SD card if the A7's are out and I bought my truck when the A7's were out...

Because that's what it was made with.

Soo does that mean I'm not eligible for the A7 chip even thought I bought my truck when the A7 was out (and in fact it had no chip when I took delivery they had to run and get one?)

If the chip was in the original delivery packet and they had to run to the back to get it, then yes you should have the A6. It's all based on when your truck was built not when you pick it up. If the dealer feels generous and wants to upgrade you a new $150 chip, that's on them. Ford won't do anything though.

Yeah not worth it for me, for $150. I rarely use the built-in navigation since I know where i'm going and if I don't, I put the street address in. The places I go were not roads designed/built in the last year, and the POI's are worthless for the most part to me, I use addresses.

I haven't looked but I think they sell the chip on eBay for less, not sure how much less though.
