Pre-existing conditions are definitely not covered; no way around that (in this case especially given that the dealer knows about it).

Thanks - I'll see what comes out of it. It was delivered to the dealership today, and they called and asked what happened --- I repeated all of the above. Not much Q&A really from the service guy. I asked about it being covered under the powertrain warranty -- he said it "should" but its all about the diagnostics and what that uncovers (@$145). Tomorrow I get the verdict and will update everyone as to what they tell me.

For the sound it makes when I put it in drive and hit gas --- I didnt do it but one time and all I can remember is it not moving - no real sounds as I didnt floor the gas to make matters worse --- just in case.

Tomorrow I hope is good news that it is fixable, and under a warranty.

A diagnostics fee? I guess since it is out of the 3/36 warranty? If it is a powertrain issue, there shouldn't be a diagnostics fee unless I am mistaken (or maybe they will refund the fee?)

Yes - sorry, I should have said that. They will refund the fee if it is covered under warranty.

Every single time I have been involved with a dealership that charged me a 'diagnostic fee' it has turned into a disaster. In fact the closest Ford dealership charged me a $75 diagnostic fee on a warranty job. Guess where I do not do business.

OP: Good luck.

Is your truck at a repair shop getting looked at?

What dealer charged you a diagnostic fee while under warranty? Ford doesn’t allow that and will correct that practice.

Default Update - Day 1 in dealership

So day one crawls by and I didnt hear anything from the dealership until 4:45pm. They were just then pushing the truck into the shop. The service rep says "its most likely transmission related which is shocking as that tranny I have is rock solid and he hasnt seen issues before in that transmission"

No real update ---- but gives me a sliver of hope that this will be covered by the warranty.

Day 2 (today) - maybe I will find out for sure.

Isn't the transmission under warranty for 5/60k?
