On the "Trip" menu in the dash screen, if you scroll down, there's one screen that shows the start/stop status. When you're stopped, it should tell you why the engine isn't shutting off. Messages like "Vehicle charging", "Engine warming" etc. What does yours say?

It's one of the main reasons I bought the 3.5 Eco instead of the 2.7.
You clearly have no idea how they designed it or how it operates. The starter is already "beefed up", it's not your regular starter. And the engine only stops when it's warmed up. The block is also designed to let the oil come down the block slowly for when it's stopped which is why oil changes take a little longer. The entire engine has been designed for this feature, it's not just an add-on... They've had start/stop engines in Europe for a very long time, and if there were that many problems with it, they would have stopped using it years ago.

In addition to a beefed up starter, they also have a AGM battery standard.

AGM: The Absorbed Glass Matt construction allows the electrolyte to be suspended in close proximity with the plates active material. In theory, this enhances both the discharge and recharge efficiency. Common manufacturer applications include high performance engine starting, power sports, deep cycle, solar and storage battery.

The 1st thing I did on my new 15 was to deactivate the stop/start system with a paper clip and 15 mins. time. later I added a switch so I could default back to normal if desired tho god only knows why.

I obviously do understand but you don't want to accept my skepticism. As I stated earlier, get back with me after 14 years and 200k miles minimum with zero replaced parts and I will be a believer. Until then we will have to agree to disagree.

Well its been a long time since I posted here but recently mine has quit working. I have shut everything off I could and it still wont auto stop. It worked all summer then one day it just stopped. I am sure I have met all the conditions. I even went as far to trickle charge overnight and still nothing. I am betting on a sensor somewhere (brake pressure switch). Next step is the dealer. I just need to find some time.

Going to dealer with mine today. Mine says "vehicle charging" 98% of the time. A few weeks ago many things electronic in the drive train and engine were malfunctioning and it turned out to be a faulty battery. New battery cured all but the start/stop. My suspicion is a sensor somewhere or the alternator. The dealer wouldn't talk the last time I was told give it time. 6 weeks should be enough? It did activate on three occasions, but only at night with way more electrical load than when I drive it during the day and a much shorter duration of the engine running. Please keep me posted on your dealer experience if they give you the time of day.

Took truck to the dealer and when they changed the battery at the previous visit they forgot to do the BMS reset. With the reset the start/stop is functioning properly.

So the problem was the battery all along, then?

Yes. Then they forgot the reset after changing the battery. Start with the battery first if you are having issues. Battery was covered under the factory warranty.
