Question 2015 2.5" Leveling for 35x12.50s Discussion

Hi all,

I just purchased a 2015 F-150 Lariat, SuperCrew, 4x4, FX4, with stock 18" wheels. I have already ordered my wheels, 18" Ballistic Jesters, and my goal was to put a 2.5" Leveling kit on and add 35x12.50 Nitto Trail Grapplers.

I've spoken with two local shops, and have been told that without trimming, the biggest tire will be 33s, due to some bars that are welded in place around the front wheel wells. I've crawled under and looked, I don't know what they are for, nothing is attached. I am assuming it's there for crash protection, or the likes.

The Ford dealer I purchased the truck from insisted 34.5" tires would fit, without issue, using a 2.5" level. Something like a LT295/70/R18... I've seen several posts of people getting 35s on, with little to no rubbing, and no one else seems to be discussing these bars being an issue.

So questions for the community:
  • Is anyone running 35x12.50s on a 2015 with a 2.5 Level?
  • What are those bars for?

I'm determined not to put a 4" lift on, because frankly I'd like to keep using my garage, and the ATMs... I had my heart set on 35s, and won't be settling for 33s. I just have to figure out what will fit, and I'm hoping someone else has actually tried this build on a 2015 so I can get some feedback.

I'll cut those bars off if I have to, but I'd really like to avoid that.

Thanks in advance!

It does nothing to tell someone you slapped on 35s and they fit without more info from both sides.

Rim width, tire width and wheel offset/backspacing.
Also some lift/level info helps too.

Carry on fellas.

Wheels are Fuel Mavericks 22x9.5 and I went with grapplers 285/55/22. I am not positive on the offset.

Not a 2.5", but I can tell you that 35x12.50 KO2's have major rubbing on those bars with a 2" level on 9" wide rims with +12 offset. Learned that the hard way.
