I pushed for a long block and after 15 days truck was done. 4 days later same noise. Took back to dealer and they heard it again also. Few days go by and the dealer calls me and says it's all back together and is still making the same sound. I just want a new truck. This is the third engine since new and still not fixed. Ford is sending out a engineer as I wait. Truck has less than 8000 miles. I bought it as a demo with 3000 miles. I did open a case with ford customer service but no help yet. As of today it's been in the shop for 23 days.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, the noise isn't from the motor. Not sure if misdiagnosing something will warrant a new truck. Try a different dealer. There are lots of simple things that can sound like an engine knock... Such as a cracked flex plate, an engine mount etc. I'll bet it's something simple

I would just lemon the truck and move on. No telling how much damage this dealer has done to this truck. Looks to me they have no idea what they are doing.

I feel your pain, we are currently fighting with our dealer about a oil leak and every time they "repair" it something else is broken. We've tried lemon law but apparently if you register your vehicle commercial it voids any lemon law ability. Good luck.

Call a lawyer that specializes in these matters. The initial consult is typically free, and one properly worded letter will cost a couple hundred bucks, and make the process much smoother.

These type of threads are coming around more and more. Ford quality is taking a nose dive.

Heck I'd lemon it, something is amiss and it'll keeping cost you aggravation.

But, do please keep us posted, I'm super curious.

Personally, in my own under-educated modern engine computer programming knowledge, I think it might be something electronic related...betting big they reused everything non-mechanical.

Just hope it doesn't turn into this kind of problem. I'm sure some of the old members on here will remember all the trouble Ghost went through. https://www.f150forum.com/f70/first-...lew-up-208912/

I feel your pain. I just had the motor in my 2016 5.0 replaced for the EXACT same issue. It was as distorted connecting rod in cylinder #5. Metal bits went all through the engine scoring as they went. Ford put a brand new engine in mine and I am at 400km on the new engine (just over 6000km total on the truck). Like you, I am starting to hear the knock again. I can't believe it. It's not as loud as the first time, yet.... But it wasn't there right after the engine replacement.

I am curious as to the build date of your truck. My dealer has replaced one other 5.0 with this issue and both trucks were built on the same day. Was your truck built around May 27, 2016 at the Dearborn production plant?

Here is a link to the thread I started that documents my story: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2016-...filter-371136/
