Default My 2.7

I have a 2016 XL 2 door with the 2.7 eco. I have 16k on it now and average 21 going to and from work. My travel trailer is a 31' at 7,000 lbs and average around 12 to 14 while towing. Tow mileage can go down if I'm in a hurry or pulling some hills... but I always drive moderate and take it easy... around 60mph. The engine is strong. So far no problems at all.

I traded my 2012 2wd 157" wb Lariat with a 5.0 and the 3.55 rear two weeks ago. 100,000 trouble free miles.
I traded it for a new 2016 2wd Lariat with the 2.7EB and the 3.31.
If you're worried about power, relax. The 2.7 compares very well with the 5.0 as far as feel goes. Fuel mileage? At 950 miles I'm on my 3rd tank. Mid 21's (in dash lie-o-meter) so far on a green powertrain running 87 octane.
Over the course of it's 100,000 miles my 2012 5.0 averaged just shy of 19.3 (tripmeter 2)

'15 2.7L SCREW 4X4. 15k miles. Zero issues with the engine. Though my only complaint is the downshift points. At times when I floor it, it will downshift to too low of a gear, which will hang close to redline for a split second before upshifting. Ford needs to reprogram this.

Fuel economy with 33" LR E tires--freeway at 70MPH is currently 21.5MPG or so. Summer time was a bit higher than that.

I have a 2WD and I have some issues with the 6 speed too, but I've sort of naturally adapted my driving style so that it doesn't find the wrong gear as often.

What does bother me is when I set the cruise control under 50 mph and it stays in 5th.

Oh...and my BIGGEST complaint, by far, is autostart. It's not that it's intrusive (though on a hot AZ summer day, I have a feeling it will be since it turns the AC way down), but I simply don't trust that it saves any fuel, and believe the starter and battery are going to fail REAL quick. I wish I had a way to just disable it by default. As it is I'm not used to hitting the button first thing, so I get in the truck, drive down the block, stop at the first stopsign and go "EFF" and hit the button.

Check on YouTube. You can disable the auto stop. Even a few people on here have done. They use a jumper to trick the computer to make it think its turned off.

I'm sure that's true, port and direct have different advantages. I was just thinking of what the end user would see with both strategies: Clean valves and more power in some areas.
But I will research that, I'm an engineer and tech junkie so I like learning about how things operate on a specific level.

And yes, that is true, it was in a NAIAS video posted a while ago about the next generation of engines. Can't remember which thread.

Agree that the port injector may help a bit on valve cleanliness, but hate to see anyone think that's the only reason it's being done. Only reason I brought it up.

Always interesting to see the unintended consequences of innovation... I had no idea about the particulates and DI engines! Naturally, as an engineer too, that's why I started digging into it...
