Default 2.7 Question

Hello All,

I知 brand new to this forum.

I picked up a new 2018 STX Screw 4x4 last month. It has the 2.7 and was wondering if the engine has been reliable for most of the people here running it? Is there anything I could do to the truck to help with reliability other than schedule maintenance?

Also, where would I look to see what rear gears I have?

Thanks

Thanks

I don't have a 2.7 but at least from what I've seen on this site, the 2.7 as of late (2018+) has been one of the least mentioned in terms of problems. The 5.0 seems to be the troublemaker lately.

Only have 10,000 on my 18 but so far no issues. Transmission is a different story. I had the tsb done 2 weeks ago and it seems better so we shall see.

The window sticker will tell you what rear gear you have.

I just looked, came with the 3.55 electronic lock RR axle. I’m assuming that’s the locking rear dif, but it locks up automatically.

You have to pull the 4x4 **** to engage the e-lock. Consult your manual for full details of operation.

The 2.7 is a fantastic engine, as are all the current F150 engines. Any engine can have mechanical issues, but most are problem free for many miles.

Hmm, weird thing is I can’t get the **** to pull out. It says “pull” next to the **** but doesn’t pull.

My second 2.7 EB. First (2015) had 63K when I traded up for the 2018 equipped the way I really wanted. Only 7k on this one so far. No engine issues on either. I REALLY like this engine!! I do mostly highway driving and love how this scoots when the accelerator is pressed. …..10spd transmission.....not so much. Finally got the TSB done and just got it back yesterday morning so well see if the shifting is better.
