Default 2.7 LED conversion any PROBLEMS?

ok.. so I have searched, and not finding what I am looking for..

We know that LED headlights are not an option on 2.7 trucks.. is it because of the autostop?

My halogen's suck, and I have been looking into all these different options between going with something like a Silverstar to stay halogen and eliminate any issues, or even HID, but I want LED..

I am looking for all the other 2.7 guys, with non oem halogen bulbs.. what issues do you have? What problems need to be fixed on the conversion?

I have only doe the led on the fog lights. They are the plug and play jmds. I have not done the headlights yet. But I agree the stock halogens suck.

Member Baxzilla has done the Raptor Retrofit LED conversion on his 2.7L Lariat. The only issue I think he had was some hyper flash, but that is not 2.7L specific. Just a bad batch of harnesses.

There are how-to guides on how to change out the headlights as well if you were to buy a set of the replacement LED headlamp assemblies and decided to change them out yourself. Keep in mind, this is probably your most expensive route for better headlights. $2k is a good starting point I think. First one that comes to mind (how-to guide with pictures) is by member boatmanbuzz .

Aside from completely replacing the entire headlamp assembly to the LED assembly, your only other option is getting some brighter bulbs. There is a thread on that as well, where a member (can't think of his name right now) replaced pretty much every bulb on the truck with something brighter thus increasing his overall light output (low beam and high beam).

I bought highs, lows, and fog lights for my 2.7. I haven't had any issues. I bought them from Xenon depot. I paid $275 collectively. Installation was pretty simple. The light output is a lot better. Here's a couple pics. I had to adjust the lows down a bit ... but you get the picture.

Even with adjusting there going to be pretty bright for people in front or behind you.

My xenondepot LED low beams do not blind anyone in front of me and they work perfectly to light up the road much more than the stock halogens. No problem with them working as DRLs either.

Do they throw down a good pattern? My stock halogens aren't very bright (white) but it's still a good pattern. No breakages across the front and good coverage to the sides. Just wondering if these throw down a more sporadic beam.

This is a comparison of the LED and the halogen with my truck about 15' from my garage. There's a lot more light being put down on the ground in front of the truck and not up in the eyes of oncoming cars.
