Angry 2.7 4wd problem

So I need enlightenment. I got my truck stuck tonight trying to get over a hump of snow from a plow, so I just laughed at my fortune of putting BFG All terrain KO2s on my truck from stock tires and a 2.5 level locked it into 4wd and started to get her rocked out. When I stopped at the top of one rock and threw it into reverse once my wheels had stopped I stepped into the gas and after 4 inches of movement I heard to dull thunks almost at the same time followed by a sound I can only describe as a corrigated tube~like a shop vac hose~ being drug over a lip. Stopped the tires n noise stopped with the tires, threw it into drive and same thing when I went forward. then it stopped for a couple of back and fourths. did it once more then nothing and I got it out

Is my 4wd seriously ing up in a truck that just hit the 20k mark

I don't have the knowledge to tell you if you messed up your truck, but tomorrow I would put it into 4wd and see if it makes the sound again and if it does drive it to Ford as you have a warranty.

Mouthymedic, it was probably the traction control system making the noises, as it acts through the antilock brake system. Did you disable the traction control like you are supposed to before trying to rock your way out of being stuck?

yup I did, It even did it in 4 low where the advance trac is 99% disabled and I've heard the traction control kick in and this was nothing like it

I don't think the AdvanceTrac has anything to do with it. Did you specifically disable the traction control?
