Default 2.5" BDS leveling kit - seeking feedback

Hi everyone.

I'm looking to level my '15 Lariat screw.

I previously owned a 2010 That had a 2.5" RC kit but it ate through upper ball joints like crazy. I drive about 80,000km per year so I want to keep the geometry as close to stock, so I like the idea of the two piece kit, or even a lift strut.

Does anyone have any feedback on the BDS two piece kit? Ease of install? Picture of upper control arm angle?

Thanks!

There are no advantages to a two piece kit, and its harder to install. As far as control arm angles affecting the ball joints, 2.5" is 2.5" doesn't matter how it is achieved, the angles will be the same. Go with 2" or less to minimize angle worries.

Yeah I was trying to visualize a difference. BDS and others market this as a kit that maintains the upper control arm angles...likely a marketing tactic. I'll see if anyone else replies with pics. Thanks.

All marketing, they state " the two piece system does not max out the upper ball joints during suspension travel". Which means when you are air borne the droop won't be quite as much, which is really minimal. Only the thickness of the rubber piece that sits on top of the coil spring which isn't that thick, and how often do you expect full droop. Like I said, the control arms move together and angle changes with the amount the truck is lifted.
Only way around it is aftermarket control arm.

So far I love my BDS kit, zero complaints and I did notice slight improvements over harsh bumps, seems to get absorbed better than stock.

Default 2" clears the 285/65/20?

I'm struggling with choices, ha!. I'd like to go with 2.5" up front to ensure clearance on the 285/65/20 KO2s I want, but am nervous about the angles causing premature wear on the ball joints and whatnot. So 2" would be preferable up front from that perspective, so long as I'm confident it will clear...and then I likely wouldn't have to block the rear end!

If it's just for a bit more clearance then 2.0" would be good. I wanted more lift all round overall and retain some rake so I did 2.5" and swapped the 1.25" blocks for 3" blocks.

You can clear those tires on stock height. Many people on here doing so. The leveled look is the way to go I think though, 2" would be just fine not too much rake.
