I'll need tires by the fall. I plan to go with the Michelin LTX or Goodyear Wrangler. I recently priced 18" LTX at $1164 plus tax at Costco.

The Michelin is a great choice for all around use with the exception of off-road mud and rock. And of course, gravel roads will eat the tread off of any tire choice.

I will usually go a different route come replacement time. I will search various "Marketplace" sites for take-off tires and wheels at a great price. About 6 weeks ago I picked up a set of take-offs 20" with less than 100 miles on them from a 2022 Expedition Sport that had been properly stored for $600 including the TPMS. I believe the tires are Open Country OEM tires.

I have done the same in the past. Just make sure the tires aren't already 5 or 6 years old unless you drive a bunch of miles and will wear them out before they age out. 8-10 years old is the aged-out replacement recommendation, depending on what source you choose to use.

I have thd Michelins and they have been really nice. Quiet and handle well, much better than the OEM Goodyear.

I just put on the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 on my 2019 Super Crew.
Tire is about the most plain looking tire known to ever exist but my truck spends a vast majority of its time on the pavement with the exception of a few days on the beach. I have used this tire in dry, wet and snowy conditions without issues at all, felt very stable.

Highly recommend this tire if you need a quality highway tire.. From the reviews I have seen people with limited off road driving still found these tires to be very efficient in that realm but not as much as an all terrain tire.. I chose the highway tire due to the noise for AT tires.. I had coopers on my old truck and they were noticeably louder at highway speeds.
