It fits!

The seat it all the way down, and the grill fully protects the speaker

You can see the bottom of the seat gives just a little and after sitting on the seat there are slight markings the size/shape of the grill <br/>When sitting in the seat I can still get a finger between the box and seat so I believe there is enough room

I figured i would share what I am currently working on and the cost as i think some maybe interested in a similar setup.

So what we know on the 2015 screw they have 6x9 up front and 6.5 in the rear
I decided to use use the same speaker in all four corners.
I considered a few brands like alpine, JL, Hertz and Polk.
I am a shopper and check all available outlets before making my decision
what it came down to was price vs performance
and I settled on the Polk Audio DB 675
Its a marine rated speaker( someone commented water gets in the doors, so better safe than sorry)
I got them off of eBay for $49.99/ pair including shipping
Direct from Polk Audo via the eBay store they have
http://www.ebay.com/itm/391365646857...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Specs are as follows
2way 6-3/4" speakers (pair)
polymer/mica composite woofer with butyl rubber surround
liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite 1" dome tweeter
suitable for marine use
2-way crossover network
recommended power range: 6-60 watts RMS
peak power handling: 180 watts
frequency response: 35-22,000 Hz
sensitivity: 92 dB
top-mount depth: 2-7/16"
warranty: 1 year

it was the sensitiivity that sold me, as well as i had a set DB's 3 cars ago and liked the sound.

I then found on eBay the speaker adaptors
Metra 82-5607
http://www.ebay.com/itm/182007172872...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
This converts the stock ford opening from that funky size to accept a 6.5-6.75 speaker
$15 shipped

Then it was off to my favorite online retailer, Amazon!
I got 2 sets of Metra 72-5602 speaker harness connector at $7.95 each shipping included
and then 2 sets of Dynamat 10415 (10x10 extreme) at $14.85 each
and finally a 5 piece door/ trim removal set for $5.99

Total so far is $166.53, thats 4 speakers, 4 wire adaptors, 2 speaker adaptors, 4 sheets of Dynamat extreme and tools that ill need to get the doors off.

Plans are to install this weekend, as i don't have all the parts yet.

I opted for this route first vs adding an amp like the Alpine 445-U and the harness found on eBay from the UK as it was the almost the same cost( amp is $109 and wire harness is 25 for a total of $134 or a $32 difference)

my thoughts/ research indicates a speaker with better sensitivity, that can take an amp if needed would be the best first step to take.
From there I can then decide if there is enough bass for my liking or if i need to add a sub/ amp

I have already researched that as well and have 2 options that i could use, the alpine 445U and wire harness for $134 or, the JL HX 280/4 and the harness for $235.
If i go with the JL, Ill be using it as a 3 channel setup, not sure the alpine can do that, and will power the fronts with 50w x2 and then a sub at 140W x1
That means adding a sub and to keep it simple I would use JL microsub at $209.

best case budget is $166
Speakers and alpine amp $300.53
or worst case speakers amp and sub for $610

I realize that i will need some wire for the amp, and I may have a remnant laying around the garage that could work, if not Metra Raptor amp kits are $30-$40 for what i would need, for an all in price less than the cost of the "factory sub" for the non sony MFT stereo(that being $695)

I am open to hear of your opinions on the amp and sub, as the plan is to install the amp if needed under the center stack as i have a 6 passenger and no center console to deal with
Does anyone know about the wiring harness for the KTP-445U wiring harness above highlighted in red? I want to install this amp but do not feel like cutting wires to do so, a link would be appreciated. Also how do you keep the stupid door chime from being amplified if you install an amp?

Thanks!

Great job!

Do you really need to have the metra adapter for the rear door speakers? As they are already 6.5 in size. Can you just install your aftermarket in directly?

I guess you could, but then you're drilling holes, and I was not about to do that on my new f150

Just an update, I have had it installed for a few weeks and it sounds great so long as i have the windows closed, there is just not enough power from the factory head unit to drive 50 mp with the windows down, this means i bit the bullet and got a bigger/ better amp

Our last total was $366.15
and now we have added
MRV F300 Alpine amp- $80
this will be used as a 3 channel amp, 50x2 rms + 150x1 rms, drive the fronts and the sub, the old amp i was using was only 100W rmsX1
Stinger speed wire(5 wire) 100 ft roll - $28
PAC- LOC- $9
ISO-SOT-984-w - $25
Grand Total is $508.15

I realize I could save $9 and not use a second LOC, however the one i currently have installed has a RUX ****, and i like that functionality.
Ill use the ISO to tap the front speakers using the 5-wire to the LOC that will be installed in the rear, then 5 wire from the Amp back up to the front of the car to the ISO to power the speakers with 50W rms
The sub will go from 100RMS to 150 RMS
Ill sell the old amp for a few bucks locally or on here, get that budget back under $500
all in not a bad project and not that bad on the wallet either
