Default 14 / 15 Comparison

So I recently bought a '15 F150 to replace my 02 F150. However the dang wash boys scratched it during final wash before delivery. So I ended taking it back in to have it fixed (painted) but they used the wrong shade of white and did a horrid job. So anyhow, they gave me '14 to use in the mean time. So this '14 has the 5.0 in it and my '15 has the 2.7.
First thing, the 5.0 sounds awesome but it guzzles fuel as bad as my 02 and has no where near the power that little 2.7 has. I was a little worried that maybe I chose the wrong motor, after this now I'm not having that concern......

i'm glad Ford brought the 2.7 EB for 2015. 'cause now we can add the 2.7 vs 5.0 debate to the old 3.5EB vs 5.0 debacle

get ready for the backlash in 3,2,1... 5.0 fanboys, it's all yours

I have a 5.0, but I think the 2.7 is a great engine! It gets the economy that everyone hoped for and didn't get out of the 3.5. Unfortunately with all of the bells and whistles it is not an option.

I agree with sircolby,
2.7 is a great engine with plenty of power, I personally went with the 5.0 on my 15' but I also give zero f**ks about fuel economy. Both engines have their pros and cons.

I'm honestly shocked by how poor the gas mileage is on this '14. Truck has 40k on it and maybe the owner beat it I dunno. Getting 13 in this truck where as on my 15 I get 18 for the same driving conditions. My old '02 was getting 13, I will say the 5.0 is a huge improvement over my 5.4 though.

Would've gone for the 2.7L if it had been available in the 502a package Lariat. But I wanted the 360 camera and LED headlights so I didn't feel like stepping down to the 501a to get it. So I ordered mine with the 3.5l Eco. Still an excellent engine, but the 2.7 is really a showcase of how far Ecoboost engines have come.

The 2.7 is a neat little engine. Very rev happy for a boosted engine. It's a real screamer, I've had them topped out at 6400rpm.
