Wink 10 Speed & 5.0

So far I am happy with the 10 Speed. It has improved from the day i got it. 2800 miles now. Still has 11/17 software in it. Overall it is smooth and I hardly feel it shifting.
Sometimes on down shifts when slowing to turn, I feel it but not that bad. About 50% of my driving is highway. I read so many people are not happy with the 10 speed.
But I've found if you just let the trans shift, and don't fight it,it will perform a lot better on slow downs then back to acceleration.
I think that the way the truck is driven makes a deference in the feel of the 10 Speed. Also having different shift modes helps when needed.
Just my $.02

I have no complaints with the 10 spd. It's the friggin oil consumption of my 5.0 that bugs me.
At 7000 miles and last check it's about a qt every 5K. Changed over to Mobil 1 at 2K, same as on all of my vehicles.
This is my 4th 5.0 and never had a problem before.

I'm happy with 5.0 10 speed. Mine was built in April 2018. It always shifts 1 to 3 to 5 every time under normal acceleration. I'd rather it normally shift 1 2 3 then it can skip gears after that. Shifts super smooth except for the 1 to 3 which could be smoother. I think it's just noticeable, because all the other gear shifts are so smooth. I have no harsh down shifts. I love the 5.0! The thing just sounds so good and goes like stink when I put my foot in it. Nothing like a good V8!! I have no oil consumption problem. I have 8k miles on mine now.

20k miles... All TSBs available performed.
Shifting is still not right to the point that now I shift to neutral before stopping for the downshift to 3rd and then 1st is just not acceptable.
I think the drivetrain already have a slack so much beating it took already...
To add to it, last week a " bump" on the steering wheel , like when you have a bad ball joint , started happening ...
Really hope you guys don't get this but my truck was perfect before 5k miles..

25k on mine, daily driver and tow 8k regularly. As stated, let it do its job and it has been great thus far. No regrets here.

Good for you !
1/2 of my 20K miles were run towing my 9000K lbs GVWR Camper.
It is my daily driver. I drive 20 miles per day inside city and it is irritating that the transmission downshifts like a teenager learning how to drive a manual transmission.
I don't need the engine helping me to stop the truck when I'm in the city at 30 mph.... whoever allowed this transmission program go out the door should be hanged.
I special ordered this truck, waited 3 months to get it and to be honest, 14 months later I have no satisfaction in driving it anymore.

So far, mine has been pretty good, but occasionally I will get a rough downshift or upshift. I have not had the TSB performed yet. I do find it a bit annoying that it seems to want to lug the engine more than downshift, and the lag between putting your foot in it and the downshift, seems extraordinarily long.

I did read in the documentation or maybe one of Ford's online videos, that the skipping from 1 to 3 and other skips are a normal part of the programming. I'm at about 8200 miles in 5 months, and other than what I have mentioned, and the low speed whine, I am not having any transmission issues.

Are you sure you're not in Tow/Haul mode? Cause that sounds like Tow Haul Mode.

If not, then I would disconnect your battery overnight to reset the learning curve on the transmission.

Tks Kytann,
No, I'm not in tow mode. As I said I have towed for 10K miles so far and I know tow mode very well.
I don't know why the adaptation does that.
As for disconnect the battery, i just did that yesterday and every time it comes back to what it should be but this thing of hardshifting to 3rd and 1st is concerning me for if all this mess have already caused slack on the drivetrain, there is no way to fix that with software and the software can't compensate for that.
A couple months ago I installed a quick battery disconnect for before the last TSB I had to disconnect avery 400-500 miles now it seems I will have to do it every 1000+ miles... I'm thinking to add a tuning to see if that solves the problem, otherwise down the road I will change the battery disconnect to the wireless one so I don't need to open the hood to do that....
Mechanically the truck is great but this software would not be acceptable in a $5K car made by Tata....
