Default Brushed Chrome?

Has anyone turned their chrome bumpers/grill/wheels into brushed chrome (i.e. by using a scouring pad)? I've thinking about doing this, but wanted to see some examples first and hear some opinions. 2012 F150 Screw XLT chrome package with billet grill.

If I'm not mistaken the majority of your chrome is actually anodized aluminum or chrome on plastic due to weight reduction. Even back in the 70's my body trim was made this way. Brillo pads did nothing to them. I even tried a brass wire wheel and all it did was burn the surface and I had to wet sand them to get them back to smooth. My 92 Explorer wheels were flaking and pitted, similar to Sean's, and I stopped because the clear sealer was to heavy and left them spotty. Nice job Sean!
