Default Help needed

Hello guys. I know I skipped the introduction but I need urgent help. Currently trying to fix a 1997 f150 4.6L, and things have went one problem after another. Truck would shut off at stops and it has an extremely low idle. I cleaned the throttle body. It was nasty. Several ports were clogged up and i had a clunk of build up fall out of it when i disassembled it. It was about the size of two quarters. I cleaned it up nice and neat, unclogged the ports and reassembled. Now on startup it revs sputters and shuts of with a whinning noise. I think it might be a busted egr valve. Hooked it up to a computer and i am getting code p0401. Any ideas and advice. Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue when i cleaned mine. What you need to do is this simple: douse it in kerosene and blow it up!! just playin bud. I fixed mine by buying new gaskets and using a thin (THIN) bead of rtv sealant, then made sure to cross tighten everything. These are notorious for being bitchy about that. Your problem is identical to mine.

ive been considering packing it in tannerite and detonating it. im gonna try that. I thought about the gaskets. they were in terrible shape. How can I if possible disassemble or otherwise check to see if the egr valve is bad itself.

Well not to be rude, but to start, do you know where the egr is? And i would try the gaskets first; because the egr can be taken off with the throttle body on

Yea i know where it is. and i know that it can be removed with or without the throttle body. The pipe that runs off of the egr valve has a nut on it and its a pain to get off. Im trying hard not to brake anything. But I have already taken off the the entire assembly. Just went and picked up the sealant and the gaskets. Wish me luck

Well good luck on the gaskets, as far as the egr goes, that nut is a m%&+$/%&()'_$er. Try spraying a little pb blaster on it th help break it free
