Any body ever put a 360 bigblock in a 97 f150?
If so how much trouble was it?

IF your carburate it its not gonna be that hard, just have to fab up motor mounts and a transmission mount since you will have to use a different transmission too. Prolly have to fab up linkage for the transmission too since your truck came with an electronic transmission and never had a detent cable or kickdown linkage.

Am not trying to start any wars, what is your thing with the 360/390 engine series? Mine is not very fuel efficient, but the neighbors drop their jaws as it starts and I'm gone to the gas station again. Check out the November TOTM. Truck held her own.

What is my thing with 360/390 engines? I just found one really cheap so I figured I'd try it out, my dad had a 390 in a old ltd and it got 20mpg

A 360 won't get the mpg.s a 390 will the piston is about .250 on the hole u can swap out the crank and turn ait into a 390 if I was to mess with any of them I'd find a 460. U have so much more aftermaket parts to choose from

If I could find a cheap 460 with a c6 I'd buy it instead but not finding one yet.

Mirman, am not understanding what you are saying. The 360 and the 390 have the same bore size. The stroke in a 390 is 1/2 inch longer due to the crankshaft and wrist pin location in the piston. The bore is identical between the engines. If the guy got 20 mpg is an ltd, perhaps my old truck and its fuel economy is due to the camper and or always towing a boat. Good luck to the thread starter and if I can assist with any technical info not hot rod stuff don't hesitate to ask. I have owned and driven that 36 year old F250 with a C-6 for 27 years. Oh, by the way, it is a great engine and nice to work on. If I had to do it over again, it would have stayed a 360. Torque was better, top end HP is for the track.
