Default air intake question

basically what I'm asking is instead of putting PVC in there like the gotts mod, can I just take that reducer off and get even more flow or is that a bad idea?

you can do that but, the air entering the motor would be considerably hotter. The colder the air, the etter the preformance.

wouldnt it basically be working similar to a CAI, or at least where its getting the air from. I got a 3" rubber coupling so I think I'll tighten that down to the air filter tube and just butt it up against the fender well and put a little grease around the edge to seal it.

Works fine, thats what I'm running now and it seemed to have helped the butt dyno some.
