I have a 2018 F-150 with the 5L engine and only 45000 Miles. I just had the VCT Solenoids replaced on a trip cross country with a camper and my boat behind. Was told the load didn't cause it but they couldn't tell me what would cause it. Does anyone out there know what may cause the failure?

 

If they were sticking it's likely caused by low quality or dirty oil, were all of them bad or was it just a "while we're here" type of thing?

 

They replaced both exhaust and intake because of failure. Truck ran great all the way home 1000miles.

 

I'm assuming it threw codes?
