HUH! A 4.2L engine is a V-6, two banks of three each. Perhaps its a miss print, 4.9 was the straight six. Sorry.

Maybe I'm not understanding. But aren't all 6 spark plugs all on the passenger side? (That's what I'm seeing)...All kind of bunched up next to each other?

I don't see 3 on one side and the other three on the other.

I definitely have a 4.2 (2007) so now I'm just a bit confused.

You must either have a strait six(not a 4.2) or are looking at something other than your plugs. On a v6 motor, there will be 3 plugs on each side. They wouldnt all be on one side because there would be 3 cylinders on the opposite side that the plugs wouldn't reach

you're not looking at a coil pack are you? I haven't been under my hood in awhile, but my 1999 ranger had coil packs, a block of 6 plugs right next to each other.

Also a v6 has plugs on the left and right side of the engine same with a v8 and a v10 and so on. An inline has them all on one side, unless you have dual plugs then there is 2 plugs per cylinder..see 2.3l ranger engine for an example. If all your plugs are on one side I have no idea what you have if its a 2007.

Post some pictures PLEASE! I want to see a franken engine.

I guess I'm lost also. Maybe I'm seeing things (or not seeing things). LOL
I'll take a look later when I have better light.
Sorry for the confusion.

I admit it. I'm an idiot!

I see them now. They don't look as easy as my old Tundra but still very do-able.

Thanks All!
