Default x pipes

I have a 95 f150 with the 351. Ive got flowtech shorties, true dual 2.25 with nothing but thrush glass packs. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to put in an xpipe? Ive heard that it gains power and loses power. The guy who told me you lost power i thought was full of it. Let me know what you think and if you've had experience with an x pipe
