Default WOT Problems

88 F150 5.0L V8
The truck will idle fine, give it a little gas its fine, but when i go WOT the engine seems to not respond. i see the throttle cable pull the throttle body open but it still has no response and then backfires and when i release the gas is bogs way down and the RPMs are low for a while till it clears up and then idles fine again? any ideas yall?

Check the timing and make sure it's at 12* BTDC or the the most 16* BTDC....

Scan for error codes. Could be 1 or more of a crapload of things.

just an idea but maybe tps sensor.theres a stickey up top of page that tells how to get to the codes and that should take some of the guesswork out
