Default wind shield

Hello,
For 1996 4.9L xl, the front wind shield has a cloudy area in the glass.
I am assuming this is film that failed between double thick shield?

The question is, do I need the chrome trim? Without it, does it look unfinished? Would the rubber fail sooner without the trim? Side mirror, front grill are black plastic.

Work will be done at the replacement store.
Thank you in advance.

Yes you need the trim. Looks very unfinished without it. No rubber. It's silicon glue. Paint your trim black to match if you want. My next move on my blacked out '95.

Thank you for the info. I saw rubber included in LMC catalog, so I thought.

Should I get a new trim in case, or can the usual glass specialty stores get it off without damage?

If they damage it they have to buy you new trim. They're supposed to know what they're doing. Take pictures of it before they do it.
