Default Wierd window stuff?

Sorry for the crappy pic - couldn't get a good one in the sun.

My windshield is getting a white film around the edge (where the black film usually is). In the pic, the redding glare is the chrome trim, and the squiggly white/grey stuff is what I'm talking about.

What the heck is this, and what is causing this?

It is hard to see in your picture, but if it's what I think it is then the windshield is going bad. Windshields are made in layers for the safety characteristics of them, glass, plastic, glass. The plastic keeps the glass together to keep it from breaking in such a way that would seriously injure you in an accident. Moisture is penetrating the layers and fogging up. It's not unsafe, just ugly from a visual standpoint.

^agreed! Tho, if it gets much worse and starts spreading across the windshield, you may want to consider replacing it.

I saw a show on the Discovery channel that showed how they make windshields. They take 2 pieces of glass and a sheet of vinyl and stack them together with the vinyl between the glass. Then they heat it up so the vinyl bonds the 2 pieces together. This keeps the glass from shattering and flying into the car if something hits the windshield.

Sorry about the crappy pic - I tried yesterday afternoon, and just got a big glare (might as well have taken a pic of the sun...)

I think you're right though. At first, I thought it was the adhesive around the edge, but it's out past the black area that runs the edge of the glass.

Yeah that started to happen to my 93 accord. I asked the windshield guy what it would cost to replace it he said 350 with glass and like 150 without, and i could get the glass at pick-a-part for like 30. But I never got around to it before I ran it into a pole.

Alright... It's sort of cloudy today, so I got a bit better pic than my night time one. Maybe a little late since we seem to have a consensus of what's happening, but what the heck.
