So my problem could be the thing in the dist? That would make it shut off and start again?

Check the power to the coil, ICM and PIP. They all get power from the same place and I had the splice come apart so the coil wasn't getting power.

dominick: last night i had spark coming off the coil, but not off the cap. it was strage, i've never had that happen.

dirtcrew51m: thats what i've read, i've seen quite a few cases where that is the problem.

jcms: the coil at least is always getting power. even ran a jumper to it to see if it kicked over. will look into backprobing the tfi and seeing if i have B+ there. thanks!

Only thing I can think of is bad spark wire from coil to cap, rotor center
contact is not touching cap center spring loaded contact, or cap spring loaded center contact is bad.

There is no such thing as "no codes" if the ECU is functional at all! That too, is not an assumption!

11 is a code. You said no codes! "No codes" could mean the ECU is falling in & out, taking the injector function w/ it. Code 11 (system passed/ no active error codes) will imply the PIP/ Stator (among other things) is functional & to look for things not related to sensor function like the TFI module. See the difference now??? I'm not trying to be difficult, just looking for clarification. We're trying to help you ID a problem on an engine we can't even see, from thousands of miles away (except in my case, less than a hundred, not that it makes it easier).

It's also important to know which type of scan. KOEO (key on engine off)/ KOER (key on engine running) or both!
BTW: remove the TFI module, take it in & have it bench checked. You sure your the Coil is healthy?

KOEO, can't get it starting reliably enough for a KOER. Code 11.
New TFI tested good, new coil spec'd out good.

EDIT: oh and ymeski, you weren't being difficult. my truck is. i'm just trying to figure this thing out so i can stop having to walk home at 1am through the oh-so-kind streets with no sidewalks. i'm just looking for any help i can get :p
