Default Whole heap of problems..

I've been searching and reading for a few hours now but I figured I would just ask and see if anyone could help me pinpoint this problem so tomorrow's a little easier.93 ext. cab 4.9 Auto.. I left this morning with not alot of gas in the tank..I really thought a had more...but I pull out get about one block and it starts sputtering...note that I live in a spot where I have to reverse out the drive and I remember just now that I had to kinda quickly put her in gear and take off and thats when the sputtering pretty much started.. She putted along for like 50 yards before actually dyeing. I figured I had just ran out of gas, no biggie, I walk to the station fill up a gallon and try to restart and get spark or trying to turn over but won't. Not sputtering just spark I think...On a side note my ignition key broke off in the cylinder about a month ago and I havn't had a chance to replace it, also there is play in my steering wheel up down left and right...So I was trying to restart when I locked out my steering wheel by accident and now I can't turn the key or steering wheel. I havn't gone back to try the wiggle and key turn yet like I've read but I think I'm just gonna go ahead and replace the cylinder..okay but why did my truck die originally if it wouldn't restart when I had fuel? I'm thinking maybe fuel pump, does it usually sputter and die and then not restart? I have 2 tanks but the rear has zero fuel...if I put some in do they run on seperate fuel pumps or the same? Any advice or input on what might have happened would be greatly appreciaited, I don't usually ask for help and that leads to 3 days of working on my truck instead of 1.

Ok so went back to the truck and wiggled the wheel while turning the key and that trick DID work luckily..So me and lil brother pushed it home and my neighbor comes over and fixes it in 30 seconds flat, all he had to do was unplug the ignition coil and plug it back it tight...thats it... maybe that will help someone in the future.

First off glad to hear its running again. The Dual fuel tanks run on two separate fuel pumps, but fuel flows through the same fuel line. I know this because my front sending unit was stuck halfway open. Which was causing fuel from the rear tank to go half to the engine, then the rest went strait into the front tank. weird I know.
