Default What is this vacuum cansister for?

I was wondering what this canister was for vacuum wise. I know the other one is for the smog pump. I broke the tubing when doing the spark plugs. And on the last picture are those vacuum lines also? They look like the ones I broke.

That's a vacuum reserve canister. I think they drink a lot of coffee at Ford, because those look like recycled coffee cans!

And yes - those red lines are vacuum lines.

Those were the broken vacuum lines i was talking about coming out of that can. And I also broke the one for the EGR. POS, system in my opinion.

yeah... those plastic lines get brittle and crack after several years. They run all over the place, and many of them are wrapped in wire loom, so it's a struggle to see what you're dealing with.

You can get silicon lines now that won't give you so much trouble.

Not 100% sure but I think its so things like the TAD, TAB, and HVAC
controls retain there function when your @ WOT.

Don't get wrapped up in the old knowledge that emissions stuff is garbage. A properly operating EGR system will allow the truck to run better and get better fuel economy. The rest is still garbage though.

If my canister ever needs replaced, I'm buying a folgers can to replace it... the red would go better with my truck... (Maxwell House is blue, and wouldn't look right) LOL

Ohhh so that's how they vacuum seal the coffee for consumers.
