Default what type oF fluid

i just did a 5 speed trany swap in my 92 f150, it came out of a 94 f150 same motor same everything, but what kinda transmisson fluid do i use i had some one tell me that they take auto trany fluid, but then some say it take gear oil. now from my exsperience with manuals they have always taken gear oil.

Dextron/Mercon III automatic transmission fluid. DO NOT use gear oil.

wow i would have never though of that all the manuals i have ever had or worked on have taken gear oil. thanks.

The parts will wear faster, it will be noisier and it will be harder to shift because the gear oil is too think to lubricate everything properly.
