Default What are These for!

On my 89 there are these louvers on the bottom of the door. Are they for speakers? I have the door panel off but can't reach down that far to feel anything. Thanks. Jim

They are just vents.

They are for ventilation, even when the HVAC system is completely off. They also prevent air pressure problems when the doors get slammed. The valve is vaguely indicated in this diagram:

(phone app link)

The valve has 3 thin rubber flaps that commonly get bent & snagged, causing them to fold & not work. Early doors didn't have valves, so if you don't feel like taking those out & ironing them flat, either delete or ignore them.

Thanks you. They kind of looked like 6 x 9 speaker vents. No I wont be ironing them. Jim
