Not sure myself, but it has something to do with the brakes. Personally, I wouldn't drive it till I knew for sure.

Does it have cruise control on it? If so, that is the brake cutoff switch. I think its prolly the cruise switch that causes fires, Ford had a hugomungo recall. I'd take it to the dealer and see if they'll sort you out for free. Extra bonus if you have Firestones.

it drives just fine. I havent tested the cruise control just yet though. I havent driven my truck in about two years and i come back and this is what is wrong with it. You really cannot tell in the pic but wher it hooks up to the master cylinder it seems that there was a leak of brake fluid and it cause the fuse to burn. Now i dont know where to find this at or even what is does. Its not the low brake fluid indicator because that fuse is located right below the brake fluid container.

Your cruise won't work right now, but the dealer will get that thing asap. They are getting totally sued right now. The big problem was that the switch was wired to be hot all the time, but ford didn't tell Texas Instruments that when they were designing. If your brakes work now, its prolly ok to drive. It looks like it tried to catch on fire, so there is probably no power to the switch now

My local dealership says they will take care of it for free, but many dealerships might have to order the switch now, the recall happened a while ago. They want your truck, and they want you to ignore the crusty burnt stuff underneath the hood. If you must have cruise right now, jump a wire across where the switch used to be.

so i go to the ford dealership and sure enough my truck is under the recall for the switch. too bad i found out the hard way huh? well the pretty girl tells me to come in tommorrow so they can look at the truck. She asks if i recieved any letter in the mail and i say no. I didnt tell her that i have been out of country for the past two years..and wont. Then she says that they will have to call ford and get it approved. I hope they get it approved cause i dont want to pay. I went to oreillys to see how much the part costs and they found it in the system for about 15.99.. Either way i want ford to fix it cuz its their problem. What do yall suggest i do?

It is a safety recall. Ford should have to fix it for free if it has never been done on that vehicle. And if they bitch, tell them you were deployed for two years and unavailable.
