Default What gear?

Ok so this might seem like a stupid thread, but I have a commute every couple days down a road that is fairly busy with a speedlimit of 30. I probably spend about 15 minutes driving on this road and am trying to figure out what is the best gear to be in, currently I use 4th because overdrive is a little too high, but I am woried about wearing out the transmission if 4th is too high of a gear to be driving in as well. Basically what gear would you guys choose to not damage the truck and get the best gas milage?

Going 30mph I stick to 3rd, and when I get past 40 I use 4th. But you don't damage anything.

My assumption was the low chugging when you are in too high of a gear wears down the transmission or differential faster than it is supposed to thats why I am concerned

Nope just harder on gas, I try and keep it above 1500rpm while driving. 4.9 is happy around up to 2000rpm

Sheeit. Never under 2000 unless idling. I won't even shift to the next gear until at least 2800, going as high as 3800.
