Default What do you make of this? Sludge.

So I inherited my grand dads 88 custom. It was used as a farm truck from day 1. He took good care of it till he passed in 95. My grandmother drove it periodically until around 2000. Obviously she didnt ever change the oil or anything else for that matter. So on to the question. When I pulled the valve covers to put new gaskets on the passenger side was caked with 1/8 to1/4 inch thick sludge. Was to be expected. But when I pulled the driver side it was no where near as bad... I'd say 1/32-1/16inch. Could this indicate anything major. Or just odd? To my knowledge that is the first time the valvecovers have been off( still had the original gaskets) it is a 5.0 with 85000 miles. Thanks ahead of time for any answers/ suggestions. Sorry fir the long read.
